Long-in-tooth difficulties of insufficient freedom and appropriateness
The most fundamental difficulty today — and the one we are perhaps most fully conscious of in day-to-day events in our bureaucratic society — is the fact that events, actions, processes, are not sensitive to context. They are tailored to a standard situation, and fail to pay attention to the wholeness which exists.
Yet common sense tells us that all these particularities might arise in response to a careful adaptation in which topography, feeling, culture, personality could play a role and be recognized in the resulting shape of the city.
