“Is it really OK to have this much fun?”
I did not question him. But ever since, for nearly fifteen years, his remark has reverberated in my mind. I think he meant, “Is it OK to have this much fun when you are making a house?” Or did he mean, at all? Is it OK to have this kind of fun in your life? Was he astonished because, for the first time, he saw people making something, and he saw that we were pleasing ourselves and he was part of it?
I want to illustrate how hard it is, and how unusual it is in modern society, to have real fun, to please yourself in this deep sense that he noticed.
